Just south of the Old City in St. Augustine is Lincolnville, settled by freed slaves after the Civil War. It’s where the cottage we rented is located. Our place was adorable (about 850 sqft), and the owner has decorated it perfectly in vintage 1950/60s style. Not all properties in Lincolnville have been updated. Those on the water (Maria Sanchez Lake) are quite luxurious, but we prefer our little neighborhood. It’s very much a work in progress.
